Comments: The Fall of Saigon is a fascinating and intensely moving site. I was a "hippie" during the War, and like many naive Americans shocked by actual visions of war itself. Now, through one of life's odd turns, I am married to an active duty Marine. Thank you, Saigon Marines, for your courage, faith, and brotherhood.

It was this silence - compounded by the flip remarks of my liberal teachers in school about My Lai, drug adicts, and psychotic Vietnam veterans. It bothered me greatly......I began to research the subject and I went to the only source that really mattered, the men who were there." I like to know so when I hear some hero who wasn't within ten thousand miles of Vietnam say he was there, I can pounce on him a bit, at least verbally that is. More people lie about being in Vietnam than any other war. Why? I don't know. Maybe they feel inadequate and wish they had the balls to have tried it. Hey. Who were the prisoners taken from the Golf 2/26 Command Post during the famous "Bar Room Brawl" The most vicious and traumatic battle of the Khe Sanh hills that took place early in Feb. 1968? Answer: Corporals Peaches and Pound cake, and Privates, Wieners and Beans. Ha Ha 2/26 reigns supreme. -- Finest battalion that ever humped the Highlands of Scotland. Amen to that. Comments: I was the Navigator on USS Okinawa (LPH-3) before during and after "Eagle Pull & Frequent Wind." While it was a sad note in our nation's history, it was a good Navy and Marine Corps OP. What put it all in perspective for me was when I witnessed a very old Vietnamese lady come off one of the helos and I
realized that she was giving up her homeland at that attained age because she no longer wanted to remain there under the vc regime. There were many other heroic and some comical stories which came out during this evacuation and I remember seeing Col Grey on the bridge of Okinawa in discussion withe the MAW
Commander, my CO etc., about the final pull of the remaining Marines from off the embassey with H-46's.
